Our APMG-accredited Local Change Agent Certification program empowers you to become a driving force for change within your organization. Beyond mere learning, this course equips you with the skills to effectively lead change initiatives, empowering you to make a tangible impact in your local context.

Certified Local Change Agents (CLCAs) play a powerful supporting role during organization-wide transformation. They understand the fundamental principles and approaches that encourage people to embrace change. The purpose of the CLCA Certificate is to confirm that a candidate has sufficient knowledge and understanding of personal and team change to contribute constructively as an informed member of an organizational team facing significant change.

CLCAs assist your organization in aligning its entire workforce’s activities with the implemented change.  This may not be a  dedicated role – certified individuals will typically continue their Business as Usual (BAU) or core activities while also contributing as invaluable members of organizational change initiatives.

  • Selected by employers to champion change initiatives.
  • Balancing this role with their regular responsibilities.
  • Supporting colleagues and organizing local change workshops.
  • Assisting managers in implementing change strategies.

  • Course Approach: Hands-on, interactive training focusing on real-world applications.
  • Facilitator Certification: Post-course, participants can become certified facilitators, extending their impact by leading in-house training.
  1. Understanding and Supporting People in Change:
    • Roles in change with a focus on the change agent.
    • Understanding change dynamics (Bridges model).
    • Developing effective influencing and active listening skills.
  2. Facilitation and the Change Process:
    • The art of facilitation and its role in change.
    • Practical skills for running impactful workshops.
    • Techniques for managing group dynamics and fostering collaboration.
  3. Learning and Communication in Change:
    • Stakeholder analysis and engagement strategies.
    • Communication techniques for change (AIDA model).
    • Linking learning needs with the change process.
  4. Change Readiness and the Change Plan:
    • Assessing and building readiness for change.
    • Understanding and addressing resistance.
    • Creating effective, actionable change plans.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:
•Understand your role as a Change Agent and the role of others involved in change including Sponsor sand Managers
•Develop techniques to help yourself and your colleagues through change: Active listening, Influencing skills, Facilitation of groups
•Define how to assess the extent and severity of the impact of change
•Understand how to assess the readiness for change in your area
•Know how to work with colleagues to develop a local change plan.

Requires 20/40 (50%) correct answers to pass

Definition of a Successful Candidate
The candidate should be able to recall, recognize, understand and apply the LCA concepts, models, approaches and tools. You will join in practical activities designed to apply as understandings gained from the LCA Course.
On completion, candidates will understand
1.That organizational change consists ofindividual transitions, aligned with intentionalchanges in a group or organization
2.How people typically respond to change, andhow they can be helped to engage through:
•involvement in local, facilitated activities
•personal support
•training and workshops
•effective local communications
3.The importance of aligning changes in their work area with wider organizational changes.

Cohort 1: CLCA_Feb2025 – (Feb 24, Mar 3) 7:30am to 3:30pm MST / 9:30am to 5:30pm EST

Cohort 2: CLCA_Mar2025 – (Mar 17, 18) 7am to 2 pm MST /  9:00am to 4:00pm EST 

Cohort 3: CLCA_May2025 – (May 12, 13, 14, 15) 6:30am to 10:30pm MST /  8:30am to 12:30pm EST

  • Facilitator Led – Virtual or In Person course via Zoom, Microsoft Teams,
  • Format: Engaging online sessions, 1/2 dayx4, 2 days, or 3 days accommodating various schedules.
  • Content Rich: Merging formal theories with practical agile project management techniques.
  • Author’s Insights: Course content drawn from the Local Change Agent Handbook.
  1. Candidates will acquire the following skills:

    1. Providing effective personal support for colleagues undergoing change.
    2. Facilitating local ideas-gathering activities, including simple process-mapping techniques.
    3. Assisting change professionals and line managers in:
      • Identifying the various ‘stakes’ individuals have in a change.
      • Developing appropriate learning and communication plans for change.
      • Assessing the change-readiness of individuals in their area.
    4. Collaborating with colleagues to develop a local change plan that outlines:
      • What will change in their work area.
      • The optimal methods for introducing these changes.
    5. Contributing to the identification and mitigation of resistance to organizational change.
    6. Cultivating purposeful relationships with line managers and change professionals on behalf of their work area.
  • Format: Open book, 40-question multiple-choice exam.
  • Focus: 55% on understanding, 45% on practical application.
  • Duration: 45 minutes.
